The Mystery at Rake Hall – Maureen Paton

14 May @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm

Maureen Paton is a freelance journalist. She is the author of two works of non-fiction and was a committee member of the campaigning group Women in Journalism. This is her first novel. Paperback copies will be on sale.

In 1947, with rationing continuing and with the black market thriving, university don C.S. Lewis is pulled into a mystery straight from one of Dorothy Sayers’ novels. Susan Temple, his brightest student, has hidden away at Rake Hall — a hostel for unmarried mothers – and hasn’t been heard from since. Lewis is hardly a detective, but he teams up with Susan’s friend Lucy and they delve into rumours of a nasty racket at Rake Hall.

Come and hear Maureen’s talk!
