Silas Burroughs and the making of Wellcome – Julia Sheppard

Silas Burroughs was the brains of the internationally successful pharmaceutical firm Burroughs Wellcome & Co. Without him it would not have existed, Henry Wellcome would not have been his partner, and there would be no Wellcome Trust. Few now remember the impact Burroughs made, not just in Wellcome but in his philanthropy, radical political views and as a visionary employer. He supported many causes, including Irish Home Rule, and world peace.
